(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop on the west side of Jamestown early Friday led to the arrest of a city resident on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated.

JAMESTOWN, NY – Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon conducted a traffic stop in the city’s west side area on January 24, 2025, at approximately 1:23 a.m. During the stop, officers identified the driver as 36-year-old Jamestown resident Christopher A. Smith.

Upon further investigation, officers determined Smith was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail for processing.

Smith faces charges of Aggravated DWI Per Se, Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), and several Uniform Traffic Tickets (UTTs). Following his arrest, Smith was released with tickets and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court for arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
