(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown led to the arrest of a local resident on felony drug charges early Sunday morning.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the K-9 Unit conducted a vehicle stop at approximately 12:36 a.m. on January 26 near the intersection of Allen Street and English Street after observing moving violations.

During the investigation, officers determined that the driver, identified as 34-year-old Magen M. Ballew of Jamestown, was in possession of more than eight grams of cocaine. Ballew was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

She has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and 4th Degree, both felony offenses. Ballew is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
