(WNY News Now) – HARRISBURG – A Bucks County woman will serve 18 to 36 months in prison after admitting to performing dental procedures without proper licensing, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced Monday.
Rose Calese Horne, 44, of Levittown, pleaded guilty to felony prohibited use of a radiation source and misdemeanor impersonation of a licensed professional. A Bucks County judge handed down her sentence following an investigation by the Office of Attorney General.
Authorities say Horne misrepresented her qualifications to three different dental offices between October 2022 and October 2023. She falsely claimed to be licensed for expanded functions, allowing her to perform procedures such as crown and bridge placements, filing down fillings, assisting with root canals, and administering local anesthesia.
“The defendant put patients at risk by performing procedures for which she was unqualified and untrained,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Licenses and certifications exist for a reason — to assure employers and patients the care being provided is legitimate and safe.”
Investigators discovered that Horne was not licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry as she claimed. While employed at one dental practice, she performed unauthorized X-rays on five patients despite lacking proper training or certification.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Thomas Ost-Prisco.
