JAMESTOWN, NY — A Jamestown woman was arrested on February 5, 2025, after officers discovered she was in violation of a stay away order of protection during a routine traffic stop on the city’s North Side.
At approximately 4:29 PM, officers from the Second Platoon were patrolling the area when they observed a traffic violation. Upon pulling over the vehicle, they found two individuals inside. The passenger, identified as 31-year-old Brittany A. Smith of Jamestown, was found to have a valid stay away order of protection against the driver.
The order, which prohibits Smith from being in contact with the driver, was allegedly violated when she was found in the vehicle with them. Smith was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
Smith is now facing charges of Criminal Contempt in the second degree for violating the protection order. She is being held pending her arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
