(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15, to 1 a.m. Monday, February 17, for multiple counties across Western and Central New York.
Mixed Precipitation Expected
Residents in Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties should prepare for hazardous winter conditions. The forecast predicts:
- Snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches
- Ice accumulations of up to three-tenths of an inch
- Wind gusts reaching 45 mph
Potential Impacts
The combination of snow, ice, and strong winds may lead to power outages and tree damage. Roads are expected to be slippery, with reduced visibility, making travel conditions hazardous. Strong wind gusts may bring down tree branches, increasing the risk of isolated power outages.
Safety Precautions
Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and allow extra time when traveling. The public is encouraged to report snow and ice conditions to the NWS through its website or social media platforms.
