(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A traffic stop in Jamestown resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old man on drug-related charges after officers reportedly discovered cocaine in and outside the vehicle.

On February 27, 2025, at approximately 9:19 p.m., officers conducting a GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) detail stopped a vehicle near Washington Street and West 4th Street for traffic violations. As the vehicle pulled over, the driver, identified as John M. Colon Jr., allegedly discarded a small bag out of the driver’s side window. Authorities later determined the bag contained cocaine.

Further investigation led officers to discover an additional quantity of cocaine inside the vehicle. Colon was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and issued multiple traffic tickets.

Colon was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
