(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A routine traffic stop early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Jamestown woman on drug possession charges, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

At approximately 1:06 a.m. on March 2, officers from the department’s 3rd Platoon stopped a vehicle near West 6th Street and Clinton Street for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Mariah Jackson of Jamestown, was found in possession of cocaine during the stop.

Jackson was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. While in custody, authorities discovered burnt tinfoil on her person containing a small quantity of fentanyl. She was subsequently charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

Jackson was processed and released on an appearance ticket for Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
