(WNY News Now) – Ellicott, NY – A Jamestown man faces a petit larceny charge after allegedly stealing merchandise from Wegmans in Ellicott.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Town of Ellicott Police responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at the popular grocery store. Authorities say 35-year-old Westley P. Bennett left the store without paying for several items. Following the incident, Bennett was charged with petit larceny.

The police issued an appearance ticket for Bennett, who is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to address the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
