(WNY News Now) – Community Rallies to Support Dakarai Jackson Jr. Amid Health and Economic Crisis.

Dakarai Jackson Jr., a senior at Tapestry High School in Buffalo, NY, was diagnosed with Acute B-cell Leukemia on November 16, 2024, after experiencing unusual fatigue and pain. His life changed drastically as he began chemotherapy, forcing him to miss school and social activities. While his parents worked tirelessly to support his medical needs, the family faced another hardship when Dakarai’s father, the primary provider, was laid off in February 2025 after 24 years with his company. Friends and family have launched a fundraiser to help cover medical expenses and household costs as they navigate this challenging time.
Dakari’s GoFundMe is currently 73% fulfilled, with $36,666 raised out of their goal of $50,000.
