(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – An 18-year-old Jamestown resident was arrested for petit larceny following a shoplifting incident at Tops Market on Washington Street Saturday evening.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers responded to a report of shoplifting in progress at approximately 6:28 p.m. on March 8. Upon arrival, store employees had already detained the suspect, identified as Jacob B. Perry, for allegedly attempting to steal alcohol.

Perry was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail for processing. He was later released with an appearance ticket in accordance with New York State bail reform laws. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
