(WNY News Now) – SHERIDAN, NY – A routine arrest warrant check in the Town of Sheridan led to a felony drug and weapons arrest on Monday afternoon.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were at 2772 S. Roberts Rd. around 1:40 p.m. on March 10, 2025, when they observed Jesse Erhard, 34, of Forestville, NY, exiting the basement of the residence while holding a .22-caliber rifle. Deputies were aware that Erhard is legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
Following the discovery, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the residence. Narcotics investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, City of Dunkirk Police Department, and City of Jamestown Police Department searched the home and uncovered:
- 55.4 grams of methamphetamine
- Scales and packaging materials consistent with drug distribution
- A .22-caliber rifle
Erhard was taken into custody and charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd (two counts)
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th
He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Program. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
