(WNY News Now) – ALLEGANY, NY – A routine traffic stop in the Town of Allegany led to the arrest of a local man on drug possession charges, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to authorities, deputies stopped Lucas J. Kerr, 30, of Allegany, on Four Mile Road at approximately 1:26 a.m. on March 16, 2025, for multiple traffic violations. During the stop, deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view, prompting a search of the vehicle. Law enforcement officials say they discovered suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and additional drug paraphernalia.
Kerr was taken into custody and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Olean Substation for processing. He was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and issued two traffic tickets. He was later released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Allegany Town Court at a later date.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
