(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, NY – An Ohio man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy in Jamestown, NY.
Justin Whitfield, 25, of Cincinnati, OH, was sentenced to 77 months behind bars by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to prosecutors, Whitfield played a key role in the drug operation led by his cousin, Rocco Beardsley, in Jamestown. Beardsley sourced methamphetamine from Cincinnati, and Whitfield was responsible for introducing him to a supplier. Authorities revealed that Whitfield used social media to conduct drug-related communications and facilitate distribution efforts.
The case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations. The investigation was carried out by the Jamestown Police Department, the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
