(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A 22-year-old Jamestown man is facing charges after allegedly violating an order of protection during a domestic dispute on the city’s south side.

Jamestown Police responded to a residence at approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 23 following reports of a domestic incident. Upon investigation, officers determined that Michael R. Shafer had active court-issued orders barring him from contact with two individuals inside the home.

Shafer was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Due to his prior criminal history, he has been charged with two counts of aggravated criminal contempt and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
