(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, NY – A 28-year-old Jamestown woman, Angelica E. Rivera, faces multiple charges, including Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI), Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), and Resisting Arrest, following a traffic stop on March 16, 2025.
At approximately 12:34 AM on March 16, 2025, officers from the Town of Ellicott Police Department initiated a vehicle and traffic stop after observing several traffic violations. Upon making contact with the driver, Rivera was determined to be under the influence of drugs while operating the vehicle.
When advised that she was under arrest, Rivera allegedly failed to comply with the officers’ commands and resisted arrest. In addition to the impaired driving charges, Rivera was charged with Obstructing Government Administration in the 2nd Degree and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
Rivera was issued an Appearance Ticket and Uniform Traffic Tickets (UTTs) and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to address the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
