(WNY News Now) – SHERMAN, NY – A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with arson following a structure fire in the Town of Sherman late Sunday night.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported fire at approximately 10:42 p.m. on March 23, 2025. After an investigation, authorities determined that Susan Hostetler, of Sherman, NY, had intentionally set fire to a building following a dispute.

Hostetler was located by deputies a short time later and taken into custody. She was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment and is facing charges of Arson in the 3rd degree and Criminal Mischief in the 2nd degree. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sherman Court at a later date.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
