(WNY News Now) – Two Jamestown women were arrested on shoplifting charges after allegedly stealing over $1,100 worth of merchandise from a business in Ellicott on March 11.

Falconer, N.Y. – At approximately 8:23 p.m. on March 11, 2025, the Town of Ellicott Police Department responded to a shoplifting complaint. Police say Ashley N. Gorton, 40, and Kayla A. Norris, 33, entered a local business and took $1,149.42 in merchandise without paying. The suspects allegedly loaded the stolen items into their vehicle and left the parking lot.

Gorton, who was operating the vehicle, was turned over to Lakewood Busti Police for unrelated charges. Both Gorton and Norris were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to face charges of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
