(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A Jamestown man was taken into custody early Friday morning after allegedly violating an order of protection and resisting arrest.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s third platoon responded to a South Side residence at approximately 3:05 AM on March 28 for a reported order of protection violation. Upon investigation, officers determined that Juan G. Rivera, 40, had violated a stay-away order by banging on a shared wall and yelling at the victim from an adjacent apartment.
Police located Rivera in a neighboring unit, where he resisted arrest. While being escorted through the building’s common hallway, he allegedly kicked the victim’s apartment door and continued yelling.
Due to his criminal history, Rivera was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
