(WNY News Now) – A Georgia man has been sentenced to decades behind bars following his conviction in the fatal shooting of a Niagara Falls resident in 2023.

LOCKPORT, NY — Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced on Thursday that 25-year-old Matthew Glass, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, has been sentenced to a combined 41 years to life in prison for the murder of 48-year-old Robert Miller in Niagara Falls.

The fatal shooting occurred in October 2023. Following a jury trial, Glass was convicted of Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Witness Tampering in the Third Degree.

“This defendant showed himself to be cold-blooded and remorseless,” said District Attorney Seaman. “The only proper response to a brazen, violent crime of this nature is to remove the perpetrator from the community permanently. Justice and public safety require it.”

The investigation was conducted by the Niagara Falls Police Department. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney Mattie Davis. The sentence was issued by Niagara County Court Judge John Ottaviano.
