(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was apprehended in a vineyard after fleeing from deputies during a warrant check in Westfield.

WESTFIELD, N.Y. — On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at approximately 1:17 p.m., deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a warrant check at a residence in the Town of Westfield.

During the investigation, deputies located 22-year-old Mikelle H. Davis of Jamestown, N.Y., inside the home. Authorities determined that Davis was in violation of an active stay-away order of protection, as another individual protected under that order was also present in the residence.

Davis, who had outstanding arrest warrants from the Village of Westfield, attempted to evade police by exiting through a window. He was apprehended shortly afterward in a nearby vineyard following a brief foot pursuit.

Davis was taken into custody without further incident and charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was later arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Program at the Chautauqua County Jail.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
