(WNY News Now) – A 26-year-old Jamestown resident was arrested Friday afternoon following a fight in which he allegedly threatened a woman with a large rock.

JAMESTOWN – On Friday, May 16, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s first platoon responded to reports of a fight on the city’s south side.

According to police, a brief investigation at the scene revealed that James Hicks Jr., 26, had threatened a female victim during an argument. In addition to making verbal threats, Hicks reportedly used a large rock to further intimidate the woman.

Officers located Hicks a short distance from the scene and took him into custody without further incident. He was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree and Harassment in the Second Degree.

Hicks was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
