(WNY News Now) – Virginia L. Matteson, 56, of Jamestown, was taken into custody on May 17 after police found her at a residence protected by a valid Stay Away Order, resulting in a Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree charge.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On May 17, 2025, at approximately 9:30 PM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a call regarding an unwanted person at a West Side residence. Upon arrival, officers located Virginia L. Matteson inside the home, seated at a table.

Authorities confirmed that a valid Stay Away Order of Protection was in place against Matteson, issued to protect the resident of the property. Due to this violation, Matteson was arrested on the scene without incident.

She was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is currently being held pending her arraignment in Jamestown City Court on charges of Criminal Contempt in the second degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
