(WNY News Now) – A 32-year-old Jamestown man is facing multiple charges following a burglary investigation at Hotel Jamestown on Sunday morning.
JAMESTOWN, NY – On June 1, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Jamestown Police responded to Hotel Jamestown after receiving a report of a suspicious man wandering inside the premises. While officers were en route, the caller updated dispatch, reporting that the suspect had entered a secured area of the building and was seen going through residents’ personal belongings.
The individual fled the scene before officers arrived. A coordinated search of the area led police to a location near the Washington Street Bridge, where they found the suspect hiding in dense vegetation. He was identified as 32-year-old Mark R. Burch Jr.
According to police, Burch was found to have active bench warrants for his arrest. Upon being taken into custody, officers conducted a search and discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine and Suboxone. He was also allegedly carrying tools commonly used for burglary.
Burch is now facing several charges, including:
- Burglary in the Second Degree
- Criminal Tampering in the Third Degree
- Possession of Burglar Tools
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree
He is being held at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
