(WNY News Now) – A 42-year-old Cattaraugus resident is facing a petit larceny charge after allegedly stealing property from a local store.
CATTARAUGUS, N.Y. — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has charged Dale R. Wagatha, 42, of Cattaraugus, with petit larceny following a reported theft from Jenny Lee Country Store.
The investigation began after store management reported stolen property. Deputies reviewed surveillance footage which reportedly showed Wagatha taking the items without paying. Based on the evidence, authorities charged him under New York State Penal Law 155.25.
Wagatha was arrested on May 30, 2025, at approximately 7:19 p.m. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to New Albion Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
