(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man faces multiple charges, including two felonies, after police responded to a domestic dispute on North Main Street Monday morning.
JAMESTOWN – A 33-year-old Jamestown resident, Devonte D. Hampton, was taken into custody on Monday, June 2, 2025, following a reported domestic dispute that led to several criminal charges.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s first platoon were flagged down near the intersection of North Main Street and West 15th Street by a victim who alleged Hampton had just broken her cellphone.
Officers located Hampton a few blocks away and took him into custody without incident. During a search incident to the arrest, police discovered a pair of brass knuckles on Hampton, resulting in a charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a felony offense.
Further investigation revealed an earlier domestic incident that occurred around 1:00 a.m. the same day. According to the victim, Hampton had also damaged a vehicle door handle belonging to her during that incident.
As a result of both incidents, Hampton was charged with the following:
- Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Felony)
Hampton was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
