(WNY News Now) – On June 1, 2025, deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested four individuals following reports of copper phone line theft and trespassing on Waite Hollow Road in the Village of Cattaraugus.
Responding to a call around 8:20 a.m., law enforcement found two males allegedly trespassing and attempting to steal copper lines. The suspects fled the scene on foot and by vehicle before deputies arrived. Officers located Nicholas Hughes, 42, of Salamanca, hiding in nearby brush, and found the vehicle nearby. Kristerpher Ellis, 35, of New Albion, was apprehended further up the street.
Christopher Bise, 44, of Salamanca, and Nicole Brown, 29, of New Albion, were charged with sixth-degree conspiracy. Hughes and Ellis were charged with petit larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy, and trespassing. Additionally, Hughes was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after officers found suspected methamphetamine on him.
All four individuals were released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in New Albion Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
