(WNY News Now) – Strong winds expected along Lake Erie shoreline and inland areas today, prompting safety precautions.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM EDT on Wednesday, June 19, for areas along the Lake Erie shoreline and inland across the northern Niagara Frontier to Monroe County.

According to the advisory, southwest winds between 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are forecast. These gusty conditions could result in unsecured objects being blown around, and tree limbs may fall, potentially leading to scattered power outages throughout the region.

Motorists, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to exercise extra caution during travel. Residents are also advised to secure outdoor objects to prevent wind-related hazards.
