(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old Jamestown man was arrested on consecutive days in Dunkirk after allegedly threatening a woman, violating a court order, and causing property damage while in custody.
DUNKIRK, N.Y. — Dunkirk Police arrested Elijah R. Keefe, 23, of Jamestown, twice in two days following a series of incidents involving harassment, criminal contempt, and criminal tampering.
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at approximately 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance on W Courtney Street involving a disorderly subject. According to reports, Keefe was threatening a female at the location and attempted to strike her. Officers also confirmed Keefe had an active warrant out of Dunkirk City Court for Unlawful Dissemination under Penal Law 245.15(1). He was taken into custody, charged with Harassment in the Second Degree, and held overnight at the Dunkirk Police Department before being released on his own recognizance.
The following day, June 25, at around 5:21 p.m., police were again called to the same address after Keefe allegedly tried to break into the victim’s vehicle. Officers arrived on scene, and Keefe fled, but he was quickly located inside a nearby residence and arrested.
At the time of his arraignment on the prior charge, an Order of Protection had been issued, instructing Keefe to stay away from the victim’s residence. His return to the same location resulted in a new charge of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree for violating the court order.
While in custody at the Dunkirk Police Department, Keefe reportedly caused significant damage to holding cell plumbing. As a result, he was additionally charged with Criminal Tampering in the Third Degree, with further charges pending based on the full extent of the damage.
Keefe was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $5,000 bail. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
