(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man has been sentenced to 48 months in federal prison following his conviction for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced Tuesday that Raymond Medina, 19, of Jamestown, has been sentenced to four years in prison by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. Medina was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine stemming from a February 2024 incident.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna M. Duncan, on February 28, 2024, Jamestown Police responded to a domestic call at a residence where Medina was subject to an active order of protection. Upon arrival, officers observed Medina exiting the residence. When approached, he became argumentative and refused to comply with commands, stating, “I don’t got nothing bro,” before fleeing on foot.

Officers attempted to use a taser to subdue Medina, but it was ineffective. A perimeter was established, and Medina was tracked using a K-9 unit and footprints in the snow. He was found hiding behind a shed and taken into custody without further incident.

Along the path of the foot chase, officers recovered a quantity of methamphetamine packaged for individual sale. The drugs were later confirmed to be methamphetamine, leading to federal charges.

The investigation was conducted by the Jamestown Police Department, led by Chief Timothy Jackson, and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division, under Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III.
