Jamestown Police say vehicle was stopped in the roadway before abrupt turn led to traffic stop and arrest.

(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Massachusetts man was arrested late Saturday night after Jamestown Police say he was found to be driving while intoxicated during a STOP DWI patrol on the city’s northside.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway on the northside of the city around 11:45 p.m. on July 5. The vehicle then made an abrupt right-hand turn and pulled to the side without using a turn signal. Officers initiated a traffic stop and conducted a roadside investigation.

The driver, identified as 64-year-old William H. Bentley of Massachusetts, was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, stopping/standing on a roadway, and failure to signal.

Bentley was transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident. He is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
