(WNY News Now) – The Erie County District Attorney’s Office is conducting an investigation after a police officer and a civilian suspect were injured during a domestic incident in Amherst.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening when Amherst Police responded to a domestic call at a residence on Bailey Avenue. According to a statement from the District Attorney’s Office, officers encountered an adult male suspect who allegedly stabbed one of the responding officers with a knife.
In response to the stabbing, both the injured officer and a second officer reportedly discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. Both the officer and the suspect sustained injuries during the confrontation.
“We are committed to full transparency while protecting the integrity of the investigative process. We appreciate patience from the public as we continue to review the evidence. An update will be provided once our investigation is complete.” the Erie County DA’s Office in their statement.
