(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown man was arrested Sunday morning following a shoplifting investigation at Tops Friendly Market on the city’s south side.

According to Jamestown Police, officers from the 1st Platoon responded to the store at approximately 10:47 a.m. on August 17, 2025, for a report of shoplifting in progress. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect outside the store and identified him as 37-year-old Jeson S.D. Allen, a Jamestown resident.

Police said a store employee witnessed Allen take merchandise without paying before leaving the store. He was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail for processing.

Allen was charged with petit larceny and later released with an appearance ticket, as required under New York State bail reform laws. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
