(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY — A 25-year-old Jamestown man faces multiple traffic-related charges after leading officers on a vehicle pursuit that crossed into Pennsylvania early Sunday morning.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, the incident began around 1:44 a.m. on August 31, when officers patrolling near Allen Street and Willard Street observed a red sedan without license plates. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Frank A. Strohauer Jr., failed to comply and fled at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit continued through southern Chautauqua County before crossing the Pennsylvania state line, at which point Jamestown officers ended their chase. Pennsylvania State Police soon located the vehicle and continued the pursuit, eventually bringing it to a safe conclusion. Strohauer was taken into custody without further incident.

Jamestown Police issued Strohauer numerous Uniform Traffic Tickets, including charges of reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to keep right, failure to stop at a stop sign, improper or no signal, inadequate or no lights, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

Authorities reported that Strohauer was released to Pennsylvania State Police for additional out-of-state charges. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. Police noted that further charges are pending. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
