(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown woman was arrested Monday evening on drug charges and multiple outstanding bench warrants following a street check by city police.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the Second Platoon were on routine patrol near East 6th Street and Winsor Street around 6:40 p.m. on September 22 when they observed 22-year-old Selena Santiago. Officers were aware Santiago had several active warrants issued by Jamestown City Court.
Santiago was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. During a search of her belongings at the jail, officers allegedly found Suboxone strips and hydrocodone pills. As a result, she was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in addition to the five outstanding bench warrants.
Police said Santiago is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
