(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown man was taken into custody on multiple felony warrants following a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon that also led to additional drug and resisting arrest charges.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the second platoon were on patrol near East 8th Street and North Main Street at around 4:30 p.m. on September 27 when they spotted 45-year-old Ralph R. Patterson III riding a bicycle. Police say they were aware that Patterson had several active felony arrest warrants issued by Jamestown City Court.

When officers attempted to place Patterson under arrest, he allegedly fled on his bicycle. After a brief pursuit, officers were able to detain him without further incident. A search at the time of his arrest reportedly uncovered a quantity of methamphetamine.

Patterson has been charged with resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, in addition to the outstanding felony warrants. He is being held at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
