Deputies Locate Suspect in Jamestown Following Theft Complaint

(WNY News Now) – GERRY, N.Y. – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Dunkirk man following a shoplifting complaint at a business in Gerry on Monday morning.

Deputies responded to the call on October 6, 2025, at approximately 11:33 a.m. Following an investigation, it was determined that 52-year-old Jamie P. Waclawski allegedly stole merchandise from the store without paying for it.

With assistance from other law enforcement agencies, deputies located Waclawski in the City of Jamestown a short time later. He was issued an appearance ticket for petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor under New York State Penal Law §155.25.

Waclawski is scheduled to appear in Town of Gerry Court at a later date to answer the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
