(WNY News Now) – A 22-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody early Saturday morning after officers stopped his vehicle for multiple traffic infractions and discovered he was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Officers with the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon conducted a traffic stop on the city’s north side at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, after observing a vehicle commit several traffic violations near 518 North Main Street.

Police say the driver, identified as Richard E. Rasmussen, 22, of Jamestown, was found to be operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition following an investigation at the scene. Rasmussen was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

He has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI Per Se, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, along with receiving multiple Uniform Traffic Tickets (UTTs) for additional infractions.

Rasmussen was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
