(WNY News Now) – No injuries were reported after Jamestown firefighters quickly brought a first-floor fire under control Thursday afternoon at an unoccupied, condemned structure on North Main Street.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 810 North Main Street around 12:43 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Crews arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from the rear of the building, which is owned by the Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency.
Firefighters from Engine 5 entered through the front door and located the fire on the first floor, extinguishing it shortly after arrival. Additional crews from Ladder 1 and Engine 4 conducted primary searches of both the first and second floors to ensure no occupants were inside. Engine 3 secured a hydrant line to support firefighting operations.
The Jamestown Police Department assisted at the scene, temporarily closing North Main Street for approximately 30 minutes while crews worked. Representatives from the city’s Department of Development and National Fuel were also present, and the American Red Cross and Board of Public Utilities provided support.
In total, 12 firefighters responded under the command of Captain McLaughlin. The fire was declared under control by 1:16 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the building was confirmed to be unoccupied and condemned at the time of the incident.
Fire investigators remained on scene Thursday afternoon to determine the cause, which remains under investigation.
