(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A 41-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody early Friday morning following a street check on the city’s east side that led to the discovery of methamphetamine, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Around 4:00 a.m. on October 24, 2025, officers from JPD’s Third Platoon were conducting patrols in the east side area when they observed Richard A. Poorman III, who was known to have multiple outstanding bench warrants. Officers conducted a street check and subsequently detained Poorman without incident.
During the encounter, police reported finding a quantity of methamphetamine in Poorman’s possession. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree in addition to the outstanding bench warrants (BWs).
Poorman was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
