(WNY News Now) – FREDONIA, N.Y. — A Fredonia man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop conducted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office early Sunday morning.

According to deputies, the stop occurred around 1:34 a.m. on October 26, 2025, on East Main Street in the Village of Fredonia. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Jorge E. Rosario-Alvarez of Fredonia, was found to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated following an investigation at the scene.

Rosario-Alvarez was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, and Speed in Zone. He was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in Fredonia Village Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
