(WNY News Now) – A 70-year-old Angola resident was arrested Wednesday night following a traffic stop in the Town of Hanover, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies conducted a traffic stop at approximately 9:00 p.m. on March 18, 2026, along Route 5 and 20 in the Town of Hanover.
The driver was identified as Barbara J. Phillips, 70, of the Town of Angola. Following an investigation, deputies determined that Phillips was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Phillips was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, and operating a vehicle without a front license plate, in violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Phillips is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
