(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 60-year-old Jamestown resident was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected narcotics, a suspended license, and multiple outstanding warrants.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the department’s 2nd Platoon conducted a vehicle stop at approximately 3:30 p.m. on March 28, 2026, near the intersection of Cole Avenue and Myrtle Street on the city’s south side.
Police reported that the stop was initiated after officers observed a moving violation. During the investigation, the driver was identified as David A. Robbins, 60, of Jamestown.
Authorities determined that Robbins had several active bench warrants issued by both the Jamestown Police Department and New York State Police in Jamestown. Officers also found that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.
Further investigation revealed that Robbins was allegedly in possession of a quantity of cocaine.
Robbins was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
He faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the Second Degree. Robbins is also expected to answer to the outstanding bench warrants related to prior court appearances. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
