(WNY News Now) – Police say a Jamestown resident is facing charges after allegedly damaging property with a baseball bat during a domestic incident on the city’s west side.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 36-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody Monday evening following a reported domestic dispute involving a weapon on the city’s west side.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 2nd Platoon responded at approximately 5:52 p.m. on April 6, 2026, to a residence for a report of a person with a weapon.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that Jeffrey M. Smith had allegedly armed himself with a baseball bat during the incident. Police said their investigation determined that Smith used the bat to damage a refrigerator belonging to the victim inside the residence.
Smith was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
He has been charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree. Authorities report that Smith is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
