(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY — A Jamestown man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a Northside traffic stop on Saturday morning.

Officers from the 1st Platoon responded at 7:15 a.m. on April 4, 2026, to reports of a potentially intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, they contacted James R. Geist, 58, of Jamestown.

Through investigation, officers determined that Geist was operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Geist was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and DWI Per Se.

Geist was booked and released with an appearance ticket to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
