(WNY News Now) – A traffic stop on Interstate 86 in the Town of Great Valley led to the arrest of two Olean residents after deputies reportedly discovered more than 15 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on April 11, 2026, at approximately 1:33 a.m. when deputies with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Seneca Nation Allegany Territory conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 86 in the Town of Great Valley.
During the stop, deputies identified the vehicle operator as Timothy J. Slater, age 60, and the passenger as Nealie A. Linsler, age 50.
According to officials, a K9 unit, identified as K9 Lex, was deployed and conducted an exterior search of the vehicle. Following the K9 alert, deputies searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered more than 15 grams of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.
Both individuals were taken into custody at the scene.
Linsler was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and was issued an appearance ticket. Slater was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree.
Slater was processed and arraigned in the Town of Ellicottville Court, where he was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail pending further proceedings.
Both defendants are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
