(WNY News Now) – A 36-year-old Jamestown man was arrested following a reported domestic incident on the city’s west side after police said he allegedly stole property, threatened a woman, and resisted officers attempting to take him into custody.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Jamestown Police Department arrested Brantley D. Churchill, 36, of Jamestown, following a domestic incident reported at about 12:06 p.m. on June 23 on the city’s west side.
According to police, officers from the department’s 1st Platoon responded to a report of a domestic dispute. A woman told officers that her ex-boyfriend had allegedly stolen property belonging to her and threatened to punch her in the face.
Police said Churchill was still at the scene when officers arrived and was speaking with them during the investigation. Authorities allege that when Churchill indicated he was leaving, officers attempted to detain him. Police reported that he resisted by pulling away, leading to a brief struggle before he was taken into custody.
Investigators further allege that while in custody, Churchill attempted to headbutt and kick officers.
Churchill was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, as well as resisting arrest and second-degree harassment.
Following his arrest, Churchill was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail pending further court proceedings.
The charges are allegations, and Churchill is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
