(WNY News Now) – A 42-year-old woman was charged after the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report that a dog and two cats were allegedly abandoned without adequate means of care in the Town of Stockton.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received an animal complaint on July 2, 2026, regarding animals allegedly abandoned at a residence on Route 380 in the Town of Stockton.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, an investigation determined that Katherine Gonzalez, 42, allegedly abandoned a dog and two cats at the residence without providing a means for their care.

Gonzalez was charged with three counts under Agriculture and Markets Law Section 353 for overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance. She was also charged under Section 355 with abandonment of animals.

Gonzalez was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Stockton Court at a later date.

The charges are allegations, and Gonzalez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
