(WNY News Now) – A 49-year-old Jamestown man was charged with DWI and other traffic offenses following a vehicle stop in the Town of Ellicott on Aug. 8.

Town of Ellicott police stopped a vehicle at about 7:37 a.m. Aug. 8 after officers observed alleged traffic violations.

Police identified the driver as Jose A. Nickerson, 49, of Jamestown. According to police, Nickerson was allegedly operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Nickerson was charged with:

• Driving While Intoxicated
• Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol and Drugs
• Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree
• Unlicensed Operation
• Operating an Uninspected Motor Vehicle
• Stopping or Parking on a Highway

Police said Nickerson’s New York driver’s license had previously been revoked following a prior DWI.

Nickerson was released with traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The allegations have not been adjudicated in court. A criminal charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
