(WNY News Now) – A 24-year-old Falconer man was arrested after an alleged shoplifting incident at Tops in Falconer resulted in damage to merchandise, according to Town of Ellicott police.

Corey J. Stingle, 24, of Falconer, was charged with Petit Larceny and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree stemming from the August 25 incident.

Town of Ellicott police said officers responded to Tops in Falconer for a reported shoplifting complaint. According to police, Stingle allegedly took merchandise from the store and left the business.

Employees reportedly followed Stingle and attempted to recover the merchandise. Police said Stingle then threw the merchandise at employees, causing damage to the items.

An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Stingle.

Police located Stingle on September 5 and took him into custody. He was released with an appearance ticket.

Stingle is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges.

All charges are allegations, and Stingle is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
