(WNY News Now) – A federal jury has convicted a 42-year-old Wellsville man on multiple drug, firearm, kidnapping and witness tampering charges, including distributing fentanyl that resulted in a woman’s death.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Simon Gogolack, also known as “Greek,” 42, of Wellsville, was convicted following a federal jury trial on charges related to a drug trafficking conspiracy and other offenses, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Gogolack was convicted of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of fentanyl resulting in death, narcotics conspiracy, maintaining a drug-involved premises, possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, kidnapping, and witness tampering.

Prosecutors said the charges stemmed from activities between July 2 and Oct. 17, 2023. According to evidence presented at trial, Gogolack conspired with others to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, Xanax and Adderall.

Between July 31 and Aug. 1, 2023, Gogolack distributed fentanyl that resulted in the death of Crystal Quinn, prosecutors said.

Authorities also alleged that a residence on Scott Avenue in Wellsville was used for drug trafficking activities during the conspiracy. Gogolack was also found to have possessed firearms in connection with the drug trafficking operation.

According to prosecutors, Gogolack had a prior felony conviction from 2007 and was prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms and ammunition.

The jury also convicted Gogolack of kidnapping and threatening one individual, as well as threatening another person in an effort to prevent cooperation with investigators.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2027, before Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford, who presided over the trial.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nicholas T. Cooper, Casey L. Chalbeck and Katerina Powers represented the government.
